  • Have respect and compassion for animals under our care.

  • Respect the environment.

  • Work with the greatest integrity: 'the quality of possessing and steadfastly adhering to higher moral principles or professional standards.'

  • Be always considerate of the public – treat others as you wish to be treated.

  • Keep animals that are under our care always safe.

CODE OF CONDUCT

Every professional animal care company must ensure that its owners, members, staff, employees and/or independent contractors, if any:

  • Abide by the MPCA Code of Conduct & Ethics.

  • Follow the guidelines presented in Trail Manners Class, or other qualified class.

  • Become certified in Pet First Aid within the first year of becoming a member of MPCA (and re-certified every two years)

  • Follow the rules of Parks & Open Space when walking dogs on Open Space Lands:

  • Abide by the appropriate state and local laws with regards to humane treatment of animals:

  • Do not engage in physical, psychological, or verbal maltreatment of any animal; no improper or harmful handling of any animal; under any circumstances.

  • Address all animals with aggressive and/or behavioral issues in a responsible and safe manner.

  • Clean up after animals under our care and dispose of the waste in a sanitary manner.

  • Never disclose any private, personal, or confidential information about any client.

  • Shall not discredit or undermine the reputation of another pet care professional.

  • Will not knowingly solicit the clientele of another animal care professional in the same line of business.

  • Will not under any circumstances accept or solicit the clients of their company or employer if an employee or independent contractor of that company.

  • Will behave in a courteous manner to other dog walkers on the trails.
